Tail Glider is a mobile game made in Unity. Players compete against other pilots in a galaxy-wide sporting event where they operate unique spacecraft in a 3D-snake-type territory control game.
My contributions include:
Working with product leads to go from vision to initial wireframing.
Working with other designers during style exploration and while creating Game UI.
Creating user journey maps and menu prototypes.
Responding to playtest feedback in order to make the game easier to understand and play.
Solution: Replaced tutorial mode with an list of gameplay and controls explanations.
Problem: Reading instructions while flying was uncomfortable.
Problem: Players would often forget only one thing and didn’t want to leave a game in-progress to replay an entire tutorial.
Collaborating with product and designers to make the game easier to learn.
Solution: Added two controls to gameplay that lerp to touch and shrink down when under a finger.
Problem: Players would often want to jump straight into gameplay and assume single-finger controls.
Working with game designers and engineers to categorize and organize gameplay systems.
Implementing UI within Unity
Programming ship abilities and adjusting values to ensure gameplay loops matched definitions and expectations.
